Dark Sector Preview

Dark Sector was one of those video games (along with Killzone 2) that first made its debut at E3 2005, but was missing in action afterwards. This has all changed during the summer because some new details regarding the Dark Sector have been released. Dark Sector is a third person shooter for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

At first glance, Dark Sector seems to be in the same vein as Gears of War, Tom Clancys Ghost Recon Advanced Warfare, and Resident Evil 4. However, it is not a Gears of War, Tom Clancys Ghost Recon Advanced Warfare, or Resident Evil 4 game. Dark Sector has some similarities with Gears of War and Tom Clancys Ghost Recon Advanced Warfare; furthermore, they entail utilizing your environments and taking cover.

The protagonist in Dark Sector is Hayden Tenno (CIA agent with uncanny abilities). He will encounter a wide variety of adversaries from genetically altered fiends to humans. Fortunately, gamers have an ace up their sleeve with Hayden Tenno. You will have your usual assortment of weapons that are, but are not limited to handguns, shotguns, machine guns, and so on. From the Dark Sector gameplay footage, we can infer that players will have a boomerang-like weapon (ala Ninja Gaiden or Blade). The most unique weapon at your disposal has to be the boomerang due to its versatility. Dark Sector was scheduled for a 2007 release date, but has been delayed. The game developers are in an odd predicament with Dark Sector.

There are essentially in a damned if you do, damned if you dont scenario which can equate to a lose-lose situation. Releasing the game in 2007 would be an arduous sell as games like Halo 3, Mass Effect, Call of Duty 4, and Assassins Creed will be available. A 2008 release date would leave Dark Sector competing against Grand Theft Auto 4, Too Human, and Metal Gear Solid 4. Regardless of a 2007 or 2008 release date, Dark Sector will be delving into some fierce competition. Dark Sector is slated to be on video games shelves in 2008.

How to Activate The Firefox Live Bookmark Feature on Your Site

Live Bookmark is Mozillas response to offering RSS feeds through their browsers and Firefox in particular. Using this technology, its possible for any visitor to your website to add your RSS feed in only two or three steps. Browsing the RSS feeds you subscribe to is as easy as looking up a bookmark. Instead of seeing a bookmark though, you get a list of all the headlines found on the RSS feed you just subscribed to. This feature is really cool.

How to Activate the Live Bookmark Icon

So how do you active the live bookmark icon on a Mozilla based browser? Simple, you include the following line of text in the header of the page where you want the icon to appear:

< link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="RSS 2.0" href="http://screamerfeeds.com/feed/" >

Understanding the different parts of the statement

The first parameter specifies that we are mentioning a forward link to an alternate page for content. In this case, the alternate page is the RSS feed. The second parameter type=application/rss+xml is stating that the link is to an RSS feed resource. The third parameter is title=RSS 2.0? and it is the text that will appear when someone clicks on the Live Bookmark Icon. In this example it would display RSS 2.0? but you could specify Subscribe to this RSS Feed or whatever you wanted. The third and final parameter is the href=http://screamerfeeds.com/feed/. This is the link or URL to the actual feed that the visitor will subscribe to.

The whole process is fairly simple once you understand the basics. You can literally make your RSS feed accessible via Live Bookmark to any of your visitors in just a few minutes. The rest is up to you.
